Join us at the Aviation Heritage Park on Monday, August 21st from 12:30 to 2 p.m. for a picnic in honor of the total solar eclipse! This is the first time since 1979 that the mainland United States will be in the direct path of a total solar eclipse. Bowling Green has the good fortune of being one of the best viewing areas to observe this rare celestial event!
Bring your own picnic supplies and chairs or blankets and watch the eclipse unfold. Check out the aircraft on display and engage in fun, family-friendly activities while you wait!
It is important to note that looking directly at the sun is harmful to your eyes. We have a limited number of eclipse glasses available at all library locations while supplies last. Pick up your free pair and keep your eyes safe!
Nasa has a wonderful site dedicated to the eclipse with a ton of educational resources. If you’ve ever been curious as to exactly how an eclipse works, the long history of people observing celestial events, or safety guidelines to help protect your eyes, it’s a great site to check out.
