Classes are held inside the Idea Lab @ Bob Kirby. All classes are free unless stated otherwise. Classes should last between 45 min to 1 hr (except pottery sessions). For more information about the lab, please visit our Idea Lab page.

Idea Lab class sizes are limited. Registration is required for all classes. Classes are designed for adults & teens.

Intro to the 3D Printer

In this class you will learn the about programs used to create a 3D file, about the different file-sharing databases, and ultimately how to submit a file to printed on the MakerBot Replicator 3D printer.

In this class you will learn the process of creating and applying a iron-on transfer with the sublimation printer.

Creating a Custom Mug with Sublimation

Learn how to create your a custom mug using your own artwork, photo, or design with the sublimation printer & heat press. This class will be instructional and a demonstration will be done. Students will not walk away with a finished piece.

If desired, students may stay after the class and purchase materials to create a mug.

Intro to Pottery

This intro to pottery series includes a brief introduction to hand building and wheel throwing. All participants will create and glaze their own pieces before being fired in the kiln.

Before registering for this series, please be sure you can attend all three dates and times listed.

The class is free, but the cost for clay is $2. The library cannot guarantee that each participant’s pieces will fire successfully in the kiln. Registration required. Ages 13+.

Pottery Crash Course

During this stand-alone, 1.5 hour class, you will learn all the steps involved in creating a project using clay. You will handle clay (but not on the wheel) and create a piece that will be fired.

Pottery: Open Wheel Time

This afternoon session is open to all Idea Lab Pottery students (and those with previous ceramic experience) to practice throwing techniques. There will be no formal teaching, but a staff member will be onsite to monitor and answer questions.

Potters are responsible for purchasing or providing their own clay – all other equipment is provided and available for use in the Idea Lab.
