Mary Kay McBrayer received her MFA in non-fiction creative writing from Georgia College & State University. She is the author of the true crime book America’s First Female Serial Killer: Jane Toppan and the Making of a Monster (Mango 2020). Her writing has appeared in Oxford American, Narratively, New/Lines Magazine, FANGORIA, Architectural Digest, and elsewhere. She wrote a horror newsletter, The Fright Stuff for the largest independent book site, Book Riot. For three years, she co-hosted Everything Trying to Kill You, a podcast that analyzed (and made fun of) horror movies from the perspectives of women of color. She’s also the writer and co-host of the forthcoming feminist podcast, Greatest True Crime Stories Ever Told.
