We love inviting the community to experience the joys of the library and the love of reading. Winter months provide wonderful opportunities for illuminating resources and providing incentives to visit! Similar to our Summer Reading Program, our Winter Reading Program encourages children, teens, and adults to explore all the library offers and to chill out with great books!
Winter Reading officially began November 18, with a kick-off celebration Friday, November 22, at the SoKY Ice Rink with a special visit by the dinosaurs of Holler Express. The 10-week schedule that runs through the end of January is chock full of winter-themed programs, including Snow Dome Storytimes featuring character meet-&-greets, Santa visits at all library locations, free movies and a Winter Solstice musical celebration at the Capitol. The program will culminate with a Narnia-themed finale on the last day of the program, Friday, January 31. All of the dates, details, and links to register for events can be found on THIS PAGE.
In addition to hosting festive programs, we also offer a reading/activity challenge to all who’d like to participate, which rewards you for completing 10 reading or library activity challenges. Prizes include a free book at Capitol Books, a deck of playing cards, and a chance to win some really cool grand prizes. Activity logs will be available at all library locations once the program begins. You can also download one to print at home or register your completed one online on THIS PAGE, as well.
Many thanks to the Friends of the Library – Warren County, Rotary Flags for Kids, and SoKY Ice Rink, and for bringing this year’s program to life!
