Keeping the Capitol a vital part of the community has long been a community concern, and the library has worked diligently to do so since taking over its management in 2021. To assist with the cost of maintaining and repairing this beautiful historic theater in the heart of downtown, we are again hosting a “Light Up the Capitol” campaign.
This fundraising effort invites community members to sponsor festive red and green bulbs under the marquee that are illuminated all at once at the Downtown BGKY Lights Up celebration, this year scheduled for Friday, December 6.
The donation for a single light bulb is $25; a group of 5, $100; a square of bulbs, $250; and a row of bulbs, $500. A new donation level available this year is an “add a snowflake” option, allowing donors to purchase or add on $5 for a snowflake that will be hung in the lobby, since even the smallest donations add up! Donations can be anonymous, if you’d like them to be, or made in honor or memory of a loved one.
All donations are earmarked for building improvement projects, like this year’s floor resurfacing and the exterior repainting project under the marquee.
