Starting in August, join Skip Cleavinger and Rebecca Baumbach on the second Saturday of each month through November for Irish and Scottish music Repertoire Classes followed by a traditional Irish Session. From 3:00–4:00 PM, we’ll explore Irish and Scottish tunes together in a relaxed repertoire class, sharing melodies, ornamentation, and ideas in a welcoming environment. This is open to any melody instruments such as flute, violin/fiddle, accordion, mandolin, harp and more! Participants should have at least 1 year experience playing their instrument and basic music reading skills are helpful, although the tunes will be taught by ear as well. Then, from 4:00–5:30 PM, Intermediate/advanced instrumentalists are invited to stay for a Traditional Irish session. Whether you’re a regular session player or just beginning to dip your toes into the tradition, we’d love to have you join us. We hope to draw musicians from Bowling Green, Nashville, Clarksville, and across the region for an enjoyable afternoon of tunes, friendship, and community before everyone heads home for their evening plans. This is a donation based class. Suggested donation $15 for repertoire class, and any donation amount for the session will go toward supporting our SKyCelticArts program.
